Short Bio:
Primrose Vurayai is an Energy Engineer and Climate Change Activist with 7 seven years of work experience in sustainable energy and climate change. She holds an MSc in Energy Engineering from the Pan African University Institute of Water and Energy Sciences (including Climate Change) in Algeria which was funded by African Union Commission. She is currently the Clean Energy and Climate Change Officer at Score Against Poverty, where she is part of the community-driven climate adaptation projects under the Locally Led Indigenous Nature Based Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation in Zimbabwe, LINCZ project, funded by Global Affairs Canada and Mennonite Central Committee. With extensive experience in renewable energy, policy advocacy, youth leadership and grassroots climate action, Primrose has represented Zimbabwe and AYICC at international platforms, including the IRENA General Assembly 2025, COP28 UAE in Dubai, COP15 Ramsa Convention on Wetlands and the Student Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi. Her work focuses on promoting nature-based solutions, reforestation, clean energy technologies and empowering marginalized communities, particularly in climate-vulnerable areas like Mwenezi, Zimbabwe.. Primrose is the current Regional Coordinator for Southern Africa at African Youth Initiative on Climate Change Network where she is committed to represent the youth and ensure capacity building trainings for youths to ensure sustainable development and youth empowerment. Primrose is also a trained African Climate Negotiator, trained by the African Group OF Negotiators Expert Support, AGNES. She is also an alumna of the Italy – IRENA Action for Climate Training (I ACT), 6th IRENA Youth Forum and Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders Program.
